When choosing a composite board, it's worth considering the application and aesthetic preferences. Our range includes terrace boards, fencing boards, as well as facade boards and slats. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of our products on the website to find the right solution for you.
Composite Decking Boards
Composite is a mixture of wood flour and high-density polyethylene, along with UV stabilizers, stabilizers, and dyes. Composite boards resemble and retain the advantages of natural wood, but are more resistant to rotting and decay as well as damage caused by insects. They also do not require impregnation.
In the market, you can mainly find two types of composite: HDPE and PVC. Both are a mixture of wood flour and synthetic substances. Currently, HDPE boards are gaining increasing popularity due to their more natural and pleasant-to-touch finish.
The choice of composite board depends on the taste and individual needs of the customer. Our range includes various types of boards, allowing for customization to specific space requirements. For example, for commercial areas, boards from our premium line are best suited due to their durability and longevity, provided by the polymer coating. While for use in residential homes, virtually all our products are suitable, offering a wide range depending on personal preferences and expectations.
Both types of boards, wooden and composite, have their supporters and opponents. If naturalness is important and yearly terrace refreshments are not an issue, then a wooden board will be suitable.
Composite, on the other hand, will be useful wherever you want to maintain the natural look of wood without the need for laborious maintenance procedures. In the case of composite boards, we also have a wider range of colors and finishes, allowing you to adjust the boards to any styleThey are resistant to damage caused by insects, rotting, and decay from the action of fungi and bacteria. They are also characterized by high resistance to cracking and low water absorption.
The boards contain UV filters; however, over time, the color may change slightly. Premium II generation boards, thanks to the polymer coating, are more resistant to color loss.
Correctly installed boards (according to the installation instructions) do not squeak.
Installation
The installation of composite boards is simple and intuitive; moreover, all necessary mounting elements are available in our offer. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the detailed installation instructions on the website(https://liderwood.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Composite-Decking-Boards-Installation-Guide.pdf)
The installation of composite boards remains invisible, while in wooden boards, the screw points are noticeable.
Composite boards are laid on joists (composite or aluminum) and fastened with mounting clips. Boards should not be laid directly on the substrate.
The board can be laid in any direction. In the case of laying boards perpendicular to the building, the joists will be laid parallel. Slope and free water drainage can be maintained using rubber pads under the joists or adjustable supports.
Yes. When installing a terrace, it's important to maintain the appropriate slope (we recommend 0.5%, or 5 mm per 1 m). This will allow for proper water drainage.
A terrace should not be installed directly on the ground. The terrace should be mounted on a flat, stable, and properly prepared substrate, usually a concrete screed, or concrete slabs can also be used. Such a substrate creates a solid and suitable foundation for a durable terrace for many years.
To finish the terrace, you can use: corner or straight masking strips and stair end boards. If the terrace is raised and you want to finish the sides as well, you can use the same boards as on the surface of the terrace.
Stairs can be installed in two ways: using a stair board or a straight masking strip. The board and riser are mounted on the step, and a straight finishing strip is used where the boards meet.
Yes, as long as the board is not submerged in water all the time, there are no objections to this. This is possible thanks to the properties of the composite, such as high resistance to rotting and decay. It is suitable for both pool cladding and any kind of decking.
The best time to install terraces is spring or summer. You can also build a terrace in autumn or winter, but remember not to install it during rain and at temperatures below 5°C.
In Poland a permit is not required when the terrace is built during the construction of the house and is included in its project or when it does not exceed a building area of 35 m². For other locations please check the local regulations.
How to take care?
Composite boards do not require special maintenance procedures; however, to maintain their aesthetics, it is recommended to regularly clean them.
To clean the boards, a regular detergent, such as dishwashing liquid or floor cleaner, is sufficient. A pressure washer also works very well. Grooved boards can also be gently wiped with fine sandpaper to remove minor scratches and stains.
Avoid excessive loading of the terrace. It's also important to prevent impacts from objects with sharp or thin ends. Garden architectural elements such as grills or outdoor furniture should have a contact surface of at least 3.5 x 3.5 cm and be protected with rubber, felt, or other soft insulators.
Remember not to use a metal shovel for snow removal (plastic shovels are allowed with caution).
Composite boards are not suitable for painting.
