FAQ
Purchasing and Fulfillment
What type of composite board should I choose?
When choosing a composite board, it is worth focusing on the application site and aesthetic preferences. Our offer includes, among others, decking boards, fencing boards, as well as facade boards and slats. We encourage you to check the product characteristics on our website to find the solution that best fits your needs.
What does the offer and pricing process look like?
Simply send us the dimensions of the planned investment – whether it is a terrace, facade, fence, or interior project – or attach a simple sketch. Based on this, our advisors will prepare an optimal list of necessary materials (boards, accessories, and finishing elements) and present a complete offer along with delivery costs.
Are the goods available immediately?
Most products in our offer are in our warehouses, making them available immediately. You can check the current stock level directly on the product page in our online store. If you are planning a larger purchase or want to be 100% sure, we encourage you to contact our customer service by phone or email – we will confirm availability and reserve the goods for you.
Can I order samples?
Yes, we offer the possibility of ordering samples before purchase. This allows you to see the color and material structure in person and match it to your surroundings. You can find all variants in the 'Samples' tab.
Where and how can I make a purchase?
You can place an order in the most convenient way for you: online through our online store, stationary at one of our sales points (Rumia, Gdynia, Warsaw, Krakow, Piekary Śląskie), or by phone or email. If you want to check the quality and colors of our products beforehand, we encourage you to purchase samples in the 'Samples' tab before placing your final order.
What is the order fulfillment time?
Standard order fulfillment time is 3 to 7 business days. During the spring-summer period, the fulfillment date may be slightly extended due to the high volume of orders. We will keep you informed about every stage of your order fulfillment.
How much does transport cost?
Delivery cost is calculated individually for each order. It depends primarily on the weight of the goods and the length of the boards. The shipping amount is added to the final valuation prepared by our advisor or is visible in the order summary in the online store.
Composite boards
What is composite (WPC)?
Composite is an advanced mixture of wood flour and high-density polyethylene (HDPE), enriched with stabilizers, dyes, and anti-UV additives. As a result, the boards combine the natural appearance of wood with the exceptional durability of plastics – they are resistant to rot, decay, and insects, and do not require tedious impregnation.
What are the types of composite boards?
Two types dominate the market: composites based on HDPE and PVC. At Liderwood, we focus on HDPE technology, which is currently gaining the most popularity. These boards are more natural and pleasant to the touch, and their structure perfectly reflects the character of wood while maintaining high resistance to weather conditions.
Which composite board should I choose?
The choice depends on the intended use of the terrace:
- For home use: All our models will work perfectly – the choice mainly depends on your aesthetic preferences, expectations, and needs.
- For public utility places: We recommend boards from the Premium line (2nd generation). They have an additional polymer coating that ensures the highest resistance to intensive use, abrasion, and difficult stains.
Composite or wooden board, which one to decide on?
If you care about naturalness and don't mind refreshing your terrace every year, a wooden board will be suitable. Composite, on the other hand, will work wherever you want to maintain the appearance of wood without burdensome maintenance treatments.
Composite boards offer a wider choice of colors, are resistant to insects, rot, and cracking. They are also characterized by very low water absorption, which makes them a more durable solution for years.
What is 2nd generation (Premium) boarding?
These are boards made using co-extrusion technology – they are surrounded (360 degrees) by a special polymer coating. This makes them almost completely non-absorbent and exceptionally resistant to tough stains, such as grease or wine, as well as to color loss.
Does composite board have splinters?
No. Unlike traditional wood, composite does not crack in a way that creates sharp splinters. This makes the terrace completely safe for children, pets, and people walking barefoot.
Are composite boards slippery?
No. Our boards have a grooved or structural surface (imitating wood grain) that provides anti-slip properties, even when the terrace is wet. This is especially important for swimming pool surrounds or stairs.
Does composite board creak?
A properly installed terrace, laid according to the instructions on a stable base and with appropriate joist spacing and expansion gaps, should not creak.
Installation
How to install composite decking?
Installation is system-based, making it simple and intuitive. All necessary elements (joists, clips, screws) can be found in our offer. The key advantage is the hidden assembly system – unlike wooden terraces, the screws are invisible, ensuring an aesthetic and safe surface. Detailed step-by-step instructions can be found in the "Downloads" tab.
How to lay composite terrace boards?
Boards should be installed on a sub-structure of joists (composite or aluminum) using dedicated clips. Never lay boards directly on the ground. The laying direction is optional; however, remember that joists must be placed perpendicular to the boards. To ensure water drainage, use rubber pads or adjustable pedestals.
Does the terrace need a slope?
Yes. A properly constructed terrace should have a minimum slope of 0.5% (i.e., 5 mm for every 1 meter of length). This allows for free rainwater drainage and prevents water pooling, which is crucial for the system's durability.
How to prepare the ground for a terrace?
The ground must be stable, flat, and permeable or properly drained. The best solution is a concrete screed or properly compacted aggregate with concrete slabs placed on top. A solid foundation ensures that the terrace will not settle or shift in the future.
How to finish the terrace?
To aesthetically close the edges, we use:
- Finishing trims: L-shaped or flat,
- Step edge boards: with a factory-rounded edge,
- End caps: for aesthetic masking of the holes in hollow boards.
The sides of high terraces can be successfully built using the same board that was used on the surface.
Can stairs be made from decking boards?
Yes, composite boards are ideal for steps. They can be finished in two ways: by using a special step edge board with a factory-finished rim, or by connecting standard boards using finishing trims.
Is composite decking suitable for pool surrounds?
Absolutely. Composite is resistant to moisture, chlorine, rot, and decay, which is why it works perfectly as a surround for pools, ponds, or docks. Just remember that the boards should not be constantly submerged in water – they must have the opportunity to dry.
When is the best time to install a terrace?
Optimal conditions are spring and summer. Work can also be carried out in autumn and winter, provided the ambient temperature is above 5°C and the installation does not take place during heavy rainfall.
Do you need a building permit for a terrace?
In most cases (for backyard terraces with an area up to 35 m²), a permit is not required. If the terrace was included in the house design, its construction is a formality. In other cases, it is worth checking current building law regulations or consulting with the local office.
Care and Maintenance
How to care for composite decking?
Unlike wood, composite does not require oiling, painting, or impregnation. To keep your terrace looking great for years, simply maintain basic cleanliness. Regular removal of sand, leaves, or mud prevents tougher stains and protects the surface from micro-scratches.
How to clean composite decking?
Water with a mild detergent (e.g., dish soap) is sufficient for washing the terrace. Using a pressure washer is very effective (maximum 100 bar, maintaining a safe distance of approx. 30 cm). For grooved and brushed boards, minor scratches or stubborn stains can be gently removed with fine-grained sandpaper or a wire brush – always moving along the grooves.
Can mold or moss appear on the terrace?
Composite itself is resistant to rot, but surface (biological) deposits can appear on accumulated dirt, pollen, leaves, or in constantly damp and shaded areas. Regular washing with a pressure washer or a brush with water and detergent effectively eliminates this problem and prevents its recurrence.
What to avoid to maintain the durability of the boards?
To ensure your terrace lasts as long as possible, remember a few rules:
- Furniture and accessories: Heavy objects (pots, grills) should have rubber or felt pads with a minimum surface area of 3.5 x 3.5 cm. Avoid concentrated loads with sharp edges.
- Snow removal: Use only plastic shovels in winter. Metal tools can permanently scratch the surface of the boards.
- High temperatures: Avoid placing a hot grill directly on the boards and prevent contact with open flames.
Can composite decking be painted?
No, composite decking is not suitable for painting or varnishing. Its composition and specific structure mean that paint will not achieve proper adhesion and will start to chip over time, permanently ruining the aesthetics of the entire terrace.
