Key Features and Benefits of Composite Decking Boards
Dreaming of a wooden facade or terrace but find natural wood too difficult to maintain? Don’t worry! Invest in composite decking boards that resemble wood. Easy to maintain, durable, and requiring no impregnation, refurbishing, or painting, they will transform the look of your facade. Learn more about them in our post.
What exactly are composite decking boards?
Composite decking boards are a modern product used for finishing terraces. They consist of 60% wood dust, also known as wood flour, and 30% high-density polyethylene. They are further enriched with:
- Stabilizers,
- Dyes,
- UV-resistant additives,
- Anti-fungal agents,
- Substances protecting against fading.
Unlike wood, they are resistant to moisture and harmful biological factors. They do not swell or deform.
Application of composite decking boards on terraces
The high-quality composite decking boards we offer are primarily used for finishing terraces and facades, not only because of their properties but also due to their easy installation. Installing these boards on a terrace involves several stages. First, the joists, which support the boards, are laid directly on the concrete slab. Remember, the surface should be even and have the proper slope to ensure water drainage from the terrace. Space the joists 30-35 cm apart and secure them to the base using expansion bolts. Next, install the fasteners, known as mounting clips, which will lock the boards in place invisibly. Leave a 1 cm expansion gap between the wall and the boards. If the last board at the edge of the terrace is too wide, cut it along its length, ensuring you keep the chamber edges intact. The process finishes with the attachment of masking trims, which protect the boards from water and dust infiltration.
Application of composite decking boards on facades
Another application for our boards is on facades, suitable for both classical and modern architecture. For facades, we recommend choosing wall composite decking boards with enhanced performance characteristics. The structure of these boards mimics the natural grain of wood. This effect is achieved by pressing wooden patterns into the surface of the board at high temperatures. The external polymer coating applied to the boards protects the composite from stains, color loss, and ensures easy cleaning.
An increasingly popular facade solution is slats. Our composite slat boards also feature a polymer coating, making them durable, strong, and resistant to adverse weather conditions. They stand out distinctly, and the wide range of colors allows for matching them to any facade.
Composite fencing boards
Fences, like terraces, balconies, or facades, must be durable due to their function. That’s why it’s worth choosing a material that not only remains in good condition but also retains its visual appeal. After all, we want the surroundings of the house to be as aesthetic as its interior.
The composite decking boards we offer can also be used for finishing balconies, fences, gates, paths, and for cladding outdoor pools and small garden architecture.
